“U.S. Army War College Strategic Staff Ride Seminar” 15 May 2024

Fifteen U.S. Army War College students and accompanying faculty attended a two-hour seminar hosted by the NESA Center as part of the Army War College’s annual Strategic Staff Ride, which brings the entire student body to the national capital region to engage policy, strategy, and security experts in person on a variety of contemporary challenges and issues.

“Pakistan National Defense University Seminar” 11–15 May 2024

The NESA Center hosted a delegation from the Pakistan NDU, with the purpose of understanding of U.S. national security concerns, U.S. interagency relationships, the U.S. approach to PME, and differing perspectives on issues of mutual interest, particularly in the South Asia region.

“NESA-AFRICOM Transnational Threats Know No Borders Workshop” 6–9 May 2024

The NESA Center, in partnership with U.S. AFRICOM, held a focused workshop with 29 participants in Morocco. The participants provided a “whole of society” approach and came from various countries across the globe, including Latin America, Africa, the Levant, the U.S.

“Indo-Pacific Minilateral Series” 23–25 April 2024

The NESA Center, along with DKI APCSS, conducted a "Maritime Security, the Indo-Pacific, and Advancing Maritime Domain Awareness" workshop in Indonesia. Nearly 60 participants took part in the event, representing 14 countries.

“The Saudi Armed Forces Command and Staff College War Course” 23–24 April 2024

The NESA Center team delivered a two-day Faculty and Student engagement to the Saudi Armed Forces War College. The event focused on strategy and strategic logic, and continues the NESA Center partnership in support of the Saudi Armed Forces and their efforts to transform Saudi PME.

“SSN: Environmental Security” Seminar ” 22–24 April 2024

The NESA Center held its “Strategic Studies Network: Environmental Security” seminar in Washington, D.C., from 22–24 April 2024 for 21 participants from 18 countries. The seminar aimed to bring together participants to better understand the history and significance of climate change.

The Near East South Asia (NESA) Center for Strategic Studies is the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) regional center focused on enhancing security cooperation between the U.S. and the NESA region. The NESA Center team leverages practitioner and academic experience to provide a collaborative space for policymakers to advance security strategy and foster collaboration across borders.

NESA Center participants–comprised of foreign and defense policy professionals, diplomats, academics, and civil society leaders–come from the NESA region and beyond to engage in NESA Center seminars, workshops, and Track II diplomacy programs aimed at developing solutions for the region extending from North Africa across the Arabian Peninsula and into South Asia.
