Directions to the NESA Center

Take I-295 South to Howard Street. Turn RIGHT at first stop light. This road merges onto South Capitol Street.
Pass over the Frederick Douglass Bridge, stay in the RIGHT LANE.
Just after the bridge, stay on the far right, as the lane jogs slightly the right; (other lanes go into an underpass).
At the stop light in one block, turn LEFT onto “M” STREET.
At the 4th stop light on “M” Street, get into the left turn lane and turn LEFT onto 4th Street.
Fourth Street turns sharply LEFT in three blocks, and changes to “P” STREET. (Go past Ft. McNair Main Gate).
Turn RIGHT on “2nd STREET”; follow this to Coast Guard Headquarters (light blue six-story building).

Take I-395 North, past the Pentagon, over the 14th Street Bridge. On the bridge make sure you are in the left lane – Route 1 will veer off to the left (I-395 goes to the right), take ROUTE 1 to the LEFT.
Take the FIRST EXIT to MAINE Avenue (Waterfront). Go to the FOURTH LIGHT (4th Street) and turn RIGHT.
Fourth Street turns sharply LEFT in three blocks, and changes to “P” STREET. (Go past Ft. McNair Main Gate).
Turn RIGHT on “2nd STREET”; follow this to Coast Guard Headquarters (light blue six-story building).
Turn RIGHT on “V” Street in front of the barricades into the James Creek Marina Parking Lot. This is a civilian-operated pay parking lot.

Park in any of the asphalt parking spaces on the north (right) side of the James Creek Marina lot. Pay in advance at the Marina Operations shack – brown wood shack next to the sand volleyball court. The all-day rate is $10.00, and the half-day rate is $5.00
Enter the main entrance to the Coast Guard Headquarters. You will be escorted from this location to the security desk if necessary.
Take the elevator to the 4th floor. Signs will direct you. The NESA Center main entrance is at the far end of the main corridor (room 4308, glass door at the end of the hall).
Upon departure: Follow 1st street to “M” Street; then left to downtown; or right to I-295.

The NESA Center is located about 1.1 miles south of the Waterfront/SEU Metro stop on the Green Line.
Upon exiting the Metro station, cross M Street, SW and walk south along 4th Street SW. Stay on this street as it curves eastward and turns into P Street SW when it reaches Fort McNair.
Continue walking along Fort McNair's wall, and make a left turn on 2nd Street, SW. Follow Fort McNair's wall for approximately six blocks.
The Coast Guard Headquarters building is the last building on your left side before you reach the water. If necessary, you will be escorted from the security desk.
In the interests of personal safety, please do not walk to the NESA Center from the Metro during the hours of dusk/darkness.
It is also possible to reach the NESA Center by Bus. Take a southbound route 71 bus from L'Enfant Plaza (Yellow/Green/Blue/Orange Lines). A bus schedule for this route can be downloaded here.
